Divya Ravi is a Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer and educator. Her virtuosic yet sensitive artistry is a product of rigor, ownership of the movement vocabulary, scholarship in literature and poetics, and innate musicality. Her choreographic practice is driven by the desire to transform the poetic and the abstract, into evocative & experiential movement.
Divya’s critically acclaimed cutting edge solo works have been presented to full houses and sold out theaters in India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, UK and Europe. Backed by formative training in India for over 2 decades, Divya now expands her practice in the UK, mentored by Mavin Khoo. She is the Lead Bharatanatyam Tutor for CAT Yuva Gati and is the recipient of Choreodrome 2025 residency from the Place. Divya’s work is supported by organizations across the globe including Arts Council England and she is currently touring with Akram Khan Company’s 'Thikra'.
Participants will gain an insight into Bharatanatyam’s multifold possibiltiies, by exploring its graceful, virtuosic, and agile movement vocabulary, narrative elements through eyes and hand gestures, and the rich emotional landscapes rooted in lived experiences. The session will also offer a unique opportunity to engage with the musicality of the form through interaction with a live musician, deepening the connection between movement, rhythm, and storytelling.
